Day Eleven - November 9th, 2010

I'm exhausted. That's the way to start this I think.

Leaving on our bikes at 8h, it was almost 40F, but didn't feel too bad. Really, this was a great day for a ride. The wind was light, little traffic at this point, beautiful sun, and good roads.

From the motel, we ride down to the corner, get back on 321 and follow it through Estill, and to Garnett, SC. Here we branch off onto hwy 119 and go to Springfield, GA, for lunch. We leave Springfield on hwy 21 and continue to Rincon, GA. By the time we tried to get through Rincon, the traffic had again become a safety issue. We have never had this much problem with traffic in the past. Is it that there are just more vehicles on the road? Or are we getting older?

We give in and pull into a General Motors dealer. A lady came out to see if she could sell us a corvette, specifically to Dale. After telling her that Dale was retired from GM, and Paul a retired GM dealer, she teased us about a Chrysler product picking us up. It was all in fun. Becky picked us up and we continued to Richmond Hill, GA, where we checked into the Days Inn. Another day done. Two more to go.

Today I went 132k in 5h 41m for an average of 23.1k/h. I'm sure this is a new high average (for an 80k+ (50m+) ride).
